Wow, what an amazing kick-off to the school year! We welcomed nearly 1000 students and parents tonight. More than 2/3's of our students came! Every parent Mr. Backman talked to (and he talked to a LOT!) loved this event.
Today we watched a video about the difference between a group and a team. A team works interdependently to achieve a goal. We did that today! Thank you teachers for welcoming students and parents into your classrooms (and working tirelessly to get your classrooms ready)...thank you specialists and paras for helping parents find their teachers and directing traffic as needed...thank you office team for being available to answer parent questions...thank you kitchen team for preparing 750 hot dogs (!)...thank you Bill, Scott and the custodian team for setting up and tearing down tables and making the building ready for today...thank you to the PTO and parent volunteers helping wrap hot dogs and manning booths outside...thank you all for working an extremely long day to welcome our students to a new school year. Kids come first. Your actions demonstrated that value tonight and I'm super proud of our team!!
